Deadline extension for special sessions and workshops!

Still pulling together your proposal?  Special session and workshop submissions deadlines have been extended until April 30th for proposals.

Submissions should be aligned with at least one of the five theme topics:

  • Collaborative strategies and shared learning:  focus on local, regional and national collaborations in wildfire research, strategic planning, and fire management operations.  Case studies such as best practices or lessons learned from fire operations, planning and research are examples.
  • Implementing success:  is dedicated to the tools, policies, technologies and methods for achieving fire management objectives.
  • Fire processes and complexity: concentrates on describing predicting and prescribing fire processes and interactions.
  • Living and working with fire: addresses the social, economic, occupational and human dimensions of fire.
  • And through collaboration with the Smoke Forum, a new partner theme:
  • Wildland fire smoke: examines strategies and tools to assess and manage the impact of wildland fire smoke on firefighters and the general population, including advancing science on health impacts, developing smoke modelling tools, and improving communications to protect health.

Submission of a special session proposal must include the following information (500-word max):

  • Title of Special Session
  • Name of proposer(s)
  • Email of the main contact person
  • Short one-paragraph biographies of the proposers
  • Brief description of the topic and motivation, highlighting the novelty/impact and timeliness of the topic
  • Relevance to the scope of the conference and the themes we’ve identified
  • List of potential authors

Submission of a workshop proposal must include the following information (500-word max):

  • Title of Workshop
  • Name of proposer
  • Email of the main contact person
  • Short one- paragraph biographies of the proposer
  • Description of the workshop, motivation, and desired outcomes
  • Details of setup requirements, workshop length, min and max participants
