Call for Submissions

Call for submissions! It’s your participation that will make Wildland Fire Canada 2019 a great conference. We invite your submissions to present your work or lead a special session or workshop at our event.

Submissions should align with at least one of the four theme topics:

  • Collaborative strategies and shared learning
    Focus on local, regional and national collaborations in wildfire research, strategic planning, and fire management operations. Case studies, such as best practices or lessons learned from fire operations, planning and research, are examples.
  • Implementing success
    Focus on the tools, policies, technologies and methods for achieving fire management objectives.
  • Fire processes and complexity
    Concentrate on describing predicting and prescribing fire processes and interactions.
  • Living and working with fire:
    Address the social, economic, occupational and human dimensions of fire.

Deadlines for submissions are:

March 31

  • Special Session submissions must be received by March 31 with a maximum of 500 words. For more information on requirements, see our submissions page.
  • Workshop Proposal submissions must be received by March 31 with a maximum of 500 words. For more information on requirements, see our submissions page.

June 30th

  • Paper contribution – presentation submissions must be received by June 30 with a maximum of 300 words. Presentations are tentatively planned as 20 minutes in length followed by 5 min for questions.
  • Micro talk submissions must be received by June 30 with a maximum of 300 words. Micro talks are tentatively planned as 10-minute presentations.
  • Poster submissions must be received by June 30th with a maximum of 300 words. Posters will be presented during an evening session and can remain on display for the duration of the conference. The poster displays are 4 feet by 8 feet.
